CyberEyes Digital Video Recorder Card FAQ |
|
| |
Why can't I see anything on the screen even after I have
successfully installed the drivers and software from the
CD? |
 |
Please check to see if:
- The surveillance card is firmly attached into the PCI
slot
- Your camera is powered and attached to the
surveillance card
- You have enabled viewing in each of the camera views
- You have added the devices in the software for each
camera
- You have installed the drivers properly. Look under
the device manager of your computer and see if the
drivers are installed.
- Try uninstalling the video capture driver and
reinstalling it. However this time do the following
Win 98/Me
When prompted to install the driver, do not
let the operating system search for the driver
automatically. Instead direct it manually to the exact
folder location where the driver is. For example
D:\Driver\WIN98_ME_2K_XP.
Win 2000/XP
Same as before, instead of using the recommended choice,
select the advance choice. In the next menu, select the
option to install the drivers manually. In the window
where the program prompts you to select the device,
click on "Have Disk". There direct it to the folder and
select the file "PVBT878". Then continue.
If all else fail, reinstall everything and install it
again. Otherwise contact your salesperson for advice. |

Why does the call-out alarm not have any sound under
Windows 2000 or Windows ME operating systems? |
 |
It might be because your modem could not play this
format of sound files. Some voice modems can only
support the format of 8000Hz, 16-bit sound files under
Windows 2000 or Windows ME. However, you can convert the
format to the supported ones using the recording program
attached to CyberEyes. |

If the computer is improperly shut down, the
recorded images will not be operable. What shall I
do to resolve problem? |
 |
The recorded database might lead to error and error and
cannot be opened due to improper operation. However, you
may remedy the database using Microsoft Access.
Please follow the instructions below:
1. Find the database.gdb file in the image storage
directory (or you may view the directory info on the
Storage tab in System settings).
2. Open the file with Microsoft Access, Microsoft Access
will ask you whether to remedy the database error.
Choose remedy.
3. The remedied database can then be opened using
CyberEyes, and the images can also be viewed.
It is strongly recommended that you redirect a database
for your recorded images. The way to do this is to
specify a new and empty directory for image storage on
the Storage tab. |

Why is the image playback like ‘funny
fast-forwarding’ action even the play speed is set
at 1x? |
 |
You may encounter this situation only when you see Auto
Record. For other recording modes such as Schedule
Record and Manual Record, the CyberEyes would capture as
many frames as it could. On the other hand, with Auto
Record, the recording rate is adjustable, and the
default rate is 1 frame per second. Since the playback
rate is constant(6 fps), you may end up seeing 6 frames
in one second that the actual recording time is 6
seconds or more. Therefore, it would seem like
‘fast-forwarding’ action. |

How do I get around Firewall of a network? (Remote
monitoring within LAN environment locally or
remotely) |
 |
If CyberEyes has Firewall protection, there are two
cases to be considered:
- CyberEyes is installed in a Real IP environment.
- CyberEyes is in a LAN/VPN environment.
A. If a CyberEyes hosting PC is installed in a
Real IP environment and it has Firewall protection.
Local end:
You need to open up the UDP ports from 16009 to 16889,
and open up the TCP port 80. Then you can type http://xxx.xx.xx.xxx
to access to that CyberEyes hosting PC server that is
mapped to this real IP address. This port setup is to
allow CyberEyes video images to be sent out even when a
Firewall is present.
Remote end:
If the remote monitoring PC is located in a LAN
environment that has Firewall, you also need to do the
same setup as local end to open up a port for CyberEyes
video images to pass through. Otherwise, you will not be
able to see video images (blocked by your Firewall).
Again, to protect that particular remote monitoring PC
from hackers, it is recommended that you install
personal Firewall software to that PC.
B. If a CyberEyes or a remote monitoring PC is
in a network (LAN) or VPN environment with Firewall
protection.
Local end:
To setup Router/Gateway mapping and port forwarding you
need to set the External Port No. as 16888 (this is
designed by CyberEyes), then you have to set the
Internal port No. as 80. To configure Firewall
protection you need to setup permitted IP for individual
remote PC that you wish to allow to access to that
CyberEyes. For example, if 61.219.203.81 to
61.219.203.86 are the permitted IP’s, then only remote
PC’s with IP’s 61.219.203.81 to 61.219.203.86 are
allowed to access to that CyberEyes. The remote PC user
can type http://xxx.xx.xx.xxx to access to that
CyberEyes, where the xxx.xx.xx.xxx is the real IP of
VPN.
Note: This port setup opens a port for
possible hackers to hack your CyberEyes hosting PC
server (but not the company server if a hacker does not
know how to break the Firewall.). To protect your
CyberEyes hosting PC server from hackers, it is
recommended that you install personal Firewall software
to that CyberEyes PC server.
Remote end:
The remote PC user, only with permitted IP, can type
http://xxx.xx.xx.xxx to access to that CyberEyes, where
xxx.xx.xx.xxx is real IP of VPN. |

Once a port for CyberEyes access from the networking
Firewall is opened, is it possible for hackers to
mess around the CyberEyes hosting system/server? If
‘yes’, how do I protect the CyberEyes hosting
system/server? |
 |
Yes, it is possible for hackers to mess around the
CyberEyes hosting system/server once a port for
CyberEyes access from the networking Firewall is opened.
It is recommended that you install personal Firewall
software to the CyberEyes hosting system. |
|

mess around the company’s network server? |
 |
